Shponder Group Building Confidence Since 1996

Behind Protea Homes stands Yehoshua Shponder, a visionary entrepreneur among the first to identify the need for a new standard in Israeli senior living. In 2000, he founded “Protea Village”, the group’s first residence, near the moshav of Bnei Dror in the Sharon region. It was the first rural senior living residence of its kind in Israel – a spacious complex of 270 residential units, alongside assisted living and nursing care facilities, redefining the experience of later-life living.
Later, Shponder expanded the vision with the acquisition of the Shoresh Hotel and its transformation into a senior living residence, leading to the creation of “Protea Hills”. Set across approximately 34 dunam, the residence includes 18 buildings of 4–5 stores and offers 305 independent living units, alongside assisted living and nursing care — all facing the Jerusalem hills.
In recent years, the group has continued to grow and evolve. Along the coastline of Rishon LeZion, just 130 meters from the sea, “Protea by the Sea” opened in early 2026 — a luxury residence bringing an international, resort-style living experience to Israel.
At the same time, “Protea in Elkana” also opened in early 2026 — a unique residence designed for the national-religious community, combining high-quality living with a shared, value-driven lifestyle.
All Protea Homes residences benefit from the group’s accumulated experience, high standards, and strong financial stability — forming a secure foundation for a life of quality, confidence, and peace of mind.
